Donating furniture
Our purpose is to provide people living in Burnley and Pendle with those things that start to turn their four walls into a home. This means that while we’d love to accept all offers and donations, we can only accept essential items such as chairs, tables, sofas, bed, kitchen appliances and housewares.
Things we can take
Is your used furniture or appliance suitable and ready for us to pick up?
- Dining & Living Room Furniture
- Bedroom Furniture
- Electronics & Small Appliances
- White Goods
- Housewares & Kitchen Items
Things we can’t
For safety reasons and for the dignity of our clients there are some things we can’t accept.
- Gas Appliances (e.g. cookers, heaters)
- Tube (old style none flatscreen) TVs
- Stained Mattresses
- Soft furnishings without a fire safety label
- Ripped, damaged or unsaleable furniture
Our mission is to help marginalized and disadvantaged families and individuals escape furniture poverty.
You can give them a helping hand as they get back on their feet. By sharing your already loved furniture, you will help to provide someone with a sense of normalcy and security.
Because of this there are some questions we will ask when you contact us about a possible furniture or appliance donation:
Is the item in good condition?
All items need to be in good, usable condition – free from stains, tears, odours or major damage. We’d love our clients to be able to have pride in their home.
Is the piece free-standing and ready assembled?
In the large majority of cases, our clients are moving into smaller homes, many also do not own tools. We want to make it as easy as possible for them to move in, set up and get back to normal without arguing over ikea instructions!
Is it something our families need?
We wish we had more space to be able to take everything offered to us, however space is limited, so is it something that our clients need to create a welcoming home?
